Masters Of Indian Cinema featured in LA

Masters Of Indian Cinema will be featured in LA: April 8-14, 2005.
On the opening night April 8, 7 pm. the film "Ghari Baire" by Satyajit Ray's will be shown and wil be introduced by celebrated author Salman Rushdie.

There will be post-screening discussions following each film for at least one of its screenings.

Opening Night 7 pm
Satyajit Ray's Ghari Baire (1984) 140 mins. Bengali with English Subtitles adapted from a book of the same title by Rabindranath Tagore.
Film will be introduced by author Salman Rushdie.

Saturday April 9 12 noon Shyam Benegal's Junoon (1978) 141 mins. Hindi
Film will be introduced by Richard Pena, Program Director, Film Society of Lincoln Center.
3 pm Aparna Sen's Yugant (1995) 135 mins. Bengali
6 pm Mani Ratnam's Roja (1992) 137 mins. Tamil
9 pm Mrinal Sen's Ek Din Achanak (1989) 105 mins. Hindi

Sunday April 10 12 noon Mani Ratnam's Bombay (1995) 130 mins. Tamil.
3 pm Shyam Benegal's Samar (1999) 126 mins. Hindi
6 pm Aparna Sen's 36 Chowranghee Lane (1981) 122 mins English
Film will be introduced by author Vijay Seshadri.
