MELA will showcase Jan 21st- Feb 15th South Asian performing arts that include new works and classics:

THE FILMS OF SATYAJIT RAY,
commemorating the renowned humanistic Indian film director with newly restored
films.

KALIGHAT, a new play by Paul Knox with choreography by Myna Mukherjee, following the journey of a group of western volunteers at Mother Teresa's home for the dying in Calcutta. Presented in association with Circle
East.

NAYIKAS, New York's first resident classical Indian Odissi dance theater
company with with choreography by Myna Mukherjee, telling stories from the oftenneglected voices of women.

CLASSICAL INDIAN MUSIC, a medley of vibrant and rich classical melodies from
India. The program features celebrated North Indian classical singer Marina Alam.

INDIAN FUSION & JAZZ, features talented musicians blending Indian and Wester
classical folk, jazz and other music forms.

LAFF-O-RAMA: A NIGHT OF SOUTH ASIAN STAND-UP COMEDY, Sholay
Productions showcases some of the tops South Asian comics on the international
comedy circuit including Vijai Nathan, Vidur Kapur and Shazia Mirza.
