The Miami Short Film Festival (MsFF), now in its sixth year, is pleased to announce an exciting collaboration with the University of Miami School of Communication (SoC). This alliance forges new ground in the presentation of a broad array of domestic and international film-making talent to select Miami venues. Film aficionados and general audiences alike will enjoy short films from around the world in four distinctive categories: narrative, experimental, animation and documentary.

Kicking off Monday, November 26, 2007 at 7pm, with a Grand Opening and Red Carpet event at the Miami Science Museum & Planetarium, MsFF will, in a week-long festival, present 150 short films in area venues including: the University of Miami’s Bill Cosford Theater, the Miami Science Museum & Planetarium, the Miami Beach Cinematheque, the Miami-Dade College’s Tower Theater and the Miami Children’s Museum.

Festivities include: an Exclusive Evening of Latin American films with a reception at 8PM Friday, November 30th at the Tower Theater; a Special Matinee Screening for Children at 3PM Sunday, December 2nd at the Miami Children’s Museum; and the Closing Ceremony and Awards Presentation at 8PM Saturday, December 1st the Miami Science Museum & Planetarium where the winners of this year’s Festival will be announced. Awards will include the Yahoo! Telemundo Award which includes the award’s winner spotlighted on the Yahoo! Telemundo home page.

Encompassing 5 venues, 17 individual events, 150 films from 6 continents, an estimated 5000-person attendance total, with up to 500 people at a single venue in one night, the MsFF promises to be an exciting, significant and affordable cultural event for the City of Miami. Tickets are $12.

The festival has lived up to its tag line “Big Dreams in Short Films” and been embraced by the Miami community at large and allowed to flourish. Partnerships with entities such as UM School of Communications and Yahoo! Telemundo have only strengthened the festival’s visibility and viability.

Founded by CEO William Vela in 2001, MsFF, a 501c3 non-profit organization, is produced by Miami-based Velart Productions, presented by the University of Miami School of Communication and sponsored by Yahoo!
