Mobifest: 50 made-for-mobile movies

Mobifest, the world's largest independent mobile film festival, will screen more than fifty made-for-mobile movies at Mobilefest International Festival of Mobile Art and Creativity in São Paulo, Brazil.

Mobifest, the world's largest independent mobile film festival, will screen more than fifty made-for-mobile movies, each under one-minute in length, Friday, November 17, 2006 at 1 PM at SESC Avenida Paulista, part of Mobilefest International Festival of Mobile Art and Creativity, which is being held in São Paulo, Brazil's largest and most populous city.

Organized by Paulo Hartmann and Marcelo Godoy, the two-day symposium and awards ceremony is expected to attract hundreds of delegates from Brazil and around the world. Discussions will center around the sociological impact that mobile phones and mobile technologies have had on the way that culture is created and communicated.

"We are proud to participant in this inaugural festival and look forward to showcasing the winning entries from this year's Mobifest Film Festival," says Duncan Kennedy, Executive Producer of Mobifest.

Kennedy will also share a bit of Canada's more colorful past with a special preview of the mobile serial or "mobisode," The History of Hooch, directed by Genie Award-winner, David Ostry.

"The involvement of international partners such as Mobifest can only help to widen the horizon of opportunity for content producers and artists in Brazil and across South America," says organizer Marcelo Godoy.

Brazil is one of the fastest growing markets in the world for mobile technology. The country, which is inhabited by 185.1 million people, has a mobile density of 44.5%, which makes it the fifth largest mobile market in the world, after China, the USA, Japan and Russia.
