DOK.PRIZE – THE BAYERISCHER RUNDFUNK AND TELEPOOL DOCUMENTARY FILM PRIZE (10,000 EUR)

Bayerische Landeszentrale für Neue Medien (BLM) will award the prize for THE SPECIAL DOCUMENTARY (2,500 EUR)

DOK.FEST will award the HORIZONS prize (3,000 EUR)

The FilmFernsehFonds Bayern will award the
PRIZE IN SUPPORT OF DOCUMENTARY FILM FROM THE FILMFERNSEHFONDS BAYERN (5,000 EUR)

The AVID branch in Munich donates with its AVID-SUPPORT PRIZE an AVID Xpress Pro HD package.

BEST.DOKS 2006

the retrospective presents 15 exclusive masterpieces from the field of creative documentary. Many of which have already been shown as part of the festival over the last twenty years. Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker and Glenn Gould will be on the big screen, as well as award-winning compilation films by Dennis O’Rourke (HALF LIFE) and Hartmut Bitomsky (DEUTSCHLANDBILDER), Muhammad Ali will fight his big fight in Kinshasa one more time (WHEN WE WERE KINGS by Leon Gast) and in WITTSTOCK, WITTSTOCK, Volker Koepp accompanies three brave women through 20 evocative years.

Memories of Violence – Films coming to terms with violent conflicts With examples from East-Timor, Rwanda, Columbia and Darfour. Which role do films play in the process of remembering? How can films help to come to terms with traumatic social events? These are the issues to be discussed during the seminar organised by the Television Workshop Development Politics in cooperation with DOK.FEST and the Goethe Institute on 05 and 06 May, 2006 in Munich.
