MV international Film Festival reveals highlights

You're invited to the perfect long weekend - the second annual Martha's Vineyard International Film Festival September 13-16, 2007. Imagine four days filled with amazing films from around the globe, fun parties, engaging conversation, great live music all within the downtown Walking Festival District - and oh, yes, enjoy some of the most beautiful beaches in America. Have the last weekend of summer be the best one of the year. Make your plans today!

The festival Web site will offer information about some exciting evening events (see below) at some of the coolest places to party on the Island, special day events to complement your film-going experience in downtown Vineyard Haven and a special forum for local Filmmakers (Think Globally, Shoot Locally) to present their newest projects and shorts. There are also several free events at this year's festival - so join us whether for a few hours or several days of fun.

Herewith a selection of coming attractions:

OPENING NIGHT EVENT

5:30 -7:30 p.m. - Opening Night Reception - Roof Top of Mansion House, Vineyard Haven. Toast the sunset rooftop with gorgeous 360-degree harbor views and live acoustic music from Phil DaRosa. Hors d'oeuvres catered by Zephrus and local restaurants. Champagne and wines provided by Boisset America and IDOL vodka. Beer by Stella Artois. Pellegrino Waters also available.

Premiere screening of THE OWL AND THE SPARROW at the Capawock Theater to follow at 8:00 p.m.
Stephane Gauger's film, full of rich, compelling, compassionate characters, does not shy away from romance; it's most remarkable, however, for its peek at the children who populate Saigon's streets. Though supposedly alone, they form a network that thrives on mutual support and respect. (A limited amount of "Movie Only" tickets are available).

Duck into our Parisian hideaway to the sounds of Balkin & Buddha Bar Beats by DJ Di.

SATURDAY NIGHT EVENT

Dance to the rhythms of high-life, juju, samba, salsa, and reggae blended with authentic Senegalese ethnic rhythms.
Music extravaganza led by the irresistible energy of master West African rhythm guitarist and drummer Mamadou Diop - MV International Film Fest and PLUM presents MAMADOU a world-class music and cultural experience.

Snacks provided by The Oyster Bar early & late, a free tasting of mixed drinks and wines of the world provided by Boisset America and IDOL vodka. Stella Artois Beer and Waters by Pellegrino also provided. (Free Sponsors' Tasting the first hour, open bar afterwards at the famous Oyster Bar).
