Naomi KawaseBefore turning out her remarkable second fiction feature film Hotaru which screened in competition at Locarno and landed the Fipresci Prize, Naomi Kawase made this very strange documentary, Mange-Kyo, where she dogs the steps of a photographer and her model (wonderful Machiko Ono, from Moe no Suzaku), trying to capture the minutest revelatory element in the creative relationship. Naomi Kawase\'s very strong personality made it very hard for photographer Shinya Arimoto to withstand the intense scrutiny.
