Naomi Sheridan heads the Turks & Caicos jury

OSCAR NOMINEE SHERIDAN AND TONY NOMINEE MAYER HEAD JURY FOR FIRST-ANNUAL CARIBBEAN FILM FESTIVAL

Oscar-nominated screenwriter Naomi Sheridan heads the jury that will honor the best films in competition at the 1st annual Turks & Caicos International Film Festival, which will be held from November 13-20, 2004, in the Caribbean.

Naomi Sheridan collaborated with her father, director Jim Sheridan, and her sister, director-writer Kirsten Sheridan, in penning IN AMERICA, the autobiographical film from 2003 that chronicled the Irish family’s immigration to the United States in the 1980s.

Sheridan will be joined on the Turks & Caicos festival’s jury by director Michael Mayer. Mayer, the three-time Tony nominee who is currently directing the Broadway play “Night, Mother” starring Edie Falco and Brenda Blethyn, made his film debut at the helm of the 2004 film HOME AT THE END OF THE WORLD, starring Colin Farrell. He will next direct Annette Bening in UNDER MY SKIN. Rounding out the festival’s jury will be Marvin Siegel, the former culture editor at the New York Times.

The Turks & Caicos International Film Festival will include more than 70 feature, documentary, short, animated, student, foreign, and Caribbean/Bahamian films. Movies will be shown at several indoor venues and at one open-air theater.

TURKS & CAICOS: Reachable by nonstop flights from New York, Toronto, London, Boston, Miami, Charlotte and Atlanta, Turks & Caicos has been described as “best undiscovered Caribbean destination” by Conde Nast Traveler.
Why should you miss it?
