Netherlands fest focuses on new european members

The Netherlands Film Festival takes place from 22 September to 1 October 2004 in Utrecht, The Netherlands.

West Sees East
Within the context of the accession of a number of new countries to the European Union, the Netherlands Film Festival is presenting a film programme comprising seven recent feature films from the new member states:

- The Czech Republic: ZELARY by Ondrej Trojan;
- Hungary: FOREST by Benedek Fliegauf;
- Estonia: MADE IN ESTONIA by Rando Pettai;
- Poland: EDI by Piotr Trzaskalski;
- Slovenia: SUBURBS by Vinko Moderndorfer;
- From various countries: VISIONS OF EUROPE, 25 short films by different directors;
- Bosnia-Herzegovina and Slovenia: Tiger Award winner SUMMER IN THE GOLDEN VALLEY by Srdjan Vuletic.

The producers and directors of the feature films will be present at the screenings. Producers from these feature films will also participate in the EAVE Forum West Meets East, a workshop that is open to producers from the Netherlands and Flanders and for producers from the new EU member states. The workshop focuses on exchange of information between the national film industries of the different countries.
