Perth Revelation Fest unveils its lineup

After 10 months of previewing at films from the four corners of the globe and putting our viewing technology into meltdown, Revelation is proud to unveil the 2006 program.

Featuring the strongest range of feature films in the event’s nine year history, the 2006 program cements Rev’s reputation as one of the most individual and creatively driven international film festivals in the region.

“We’re committed to working both within and without the established exhibition and distribution structure” enthuses Rev founder and director Richard Sowada. “This year we’re going all the way in showcasing alternative exhibition models by expanding our micro-cinema – Cinema Tabu – which also provides a platform for local artists and musicians. I can’t think of another Australian film festival that so strongly encourages high-quality alternate mechanisms like this and it’s paying off with about four micro-cinema groups operating or starting in Perth.”

The 2006 event features:
• 0ver 100 individual films
• 78 sessions
• 5 live bands & 8 DJs
• 32 Australian premieres
• 71 short films and animations
• 16 feature documentaries
• 13 feature films.

Highlights include:
• Fritz Lang’s 1927 classic Metropolis with a live score from The New Pollutants
• A micro-cinema embracing live music, VJs, a specially curated film program, a gallery space and a bar.
• Meet the filmmaker sessions with acclaimed filmmakers John Hughes, Megan Spencer and local filmmaker Zac Hilditch
• An animation and experimental showcase
• Two new locally produced half hour films with filmmaker Q&As
• Award winning international works drawn from Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Hungary, UK, France, Denmark, Vietnam, Canada, the USA and Spain.

The event also includes a range of industry seminars, masterclasses with a great mix of independent industry players and creatives. They will be participating in sessions interrogating the nature of the Australian voice in cinema, low and no budget production and distribution survival, digital “painting” and the personal voice in documentary. Registrations and conference content will be announced shortly.
