Pitching for funding opportunities at Adelaide Fest

2005 AIDC Pitching Projects Announced

The 2005 Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC), which opens on Monday 21 February with a record number of key international guests, has announced the successful projects for the ABC ARTS Pitching Competition, the ABC/RTE Pitch and Punt,
the SBS/TV2 Pitch and Punt
and the Democracy Project Pitching.

These competitions offer 23 pitching slots and along with the 21 pitching slots at DOCUMart, and the Bell Fund/SAFC/AFF Pitching Competition, the AIDC is offering a record number of pitching opportunities for producers to secure funding for their projects.

The ABC and RTE TV in Ireland will jointly finance the development of a documentary project, to the value of $20,000. The ABC/RTE Pitch and Punt will take place at 11.45am on Tuesday 22 February and includes the following successful projects:

Convicts Reunited - Artemis International
The Voyage of the Catalpa - Essential Viewing
Loitering With Intent - Rymer Bayly Watson
Exporting Revolution - Michael Cordell Productions
Treason - Orana Films
The Irish Blues Brothers - Virus Media

SBSi and TV2 Denmark's collaboration is the joint financing of the development of a documentary project, to the value of $16,000. The SBS/TV2 Denmark's Pitch and Punt will take place on Thursday 24 February at 9.45am. The selected projects are:

The Book that Shook the World - Con Anemogiannis / Judy Menczel.
Savage Dominion - Gillian Norman / Mike Piper
Saving the World? - Rachel Landers / Dylan Blowen
Super Sperm Me - Sam Smith


The ABC ARTS PITCHING COMPETITION will be held at 10.45am on Tuesday 22
February, the selected projects are:

Post Bop - Bernie McGann - David Roach/Peter Jordan
In Good Company - Phillipe Charluet
Regional Underground - Julianne Pierce/Kaye Pavlou
The Illustrators of Crime Emma Crimmings, Toby Patten, Michael McMahon
Staging a Comeback - Kaye Harrison
Taronga - Johanna Featherstone/Don Featherstone
Who is Guy Bourdin? - Sean Brandt/Samuel Bourdin

The Democracy Projects, selected by Steps International, will be pitched on Thursday 24 February. They are:

A Life of One's Own - Max Stahl, Annie Goldson
Cold War Warriors - Simon Nasht, Annamaria Talas
Lang Hair & Taipan - Tom Zubrycki
Freedom Fuel - Aaron Woolf, Chris Hilton
Good Morning Afghanistan - Emma Crimmings, Anna Kaplan
Russian Dolls - Amanda Feldon, Liz Courtney

The pitching sessions offer a valuable opportunity for all delegates to hear about the projects these broadcasters are looking to commission. Don't miss out on your opportunity to be in the audience.

Based on the theme Common Ground New Horizons, the AIDC runs from 21 to 24 February 2005 and has a focus on getting more Australian documentary makers involved in international co-productions and digital technologies.
