Pizza Verdi wins Online Competition Final Go Short

The fourth edition of Go Short will start this Wednesday and we already have our first prizewinner! Gary Nadeau's Pizza Verdi received the most audience votes on the festival's website and wins the Biosagenda.nl Online Award of 1.500 euro. From the start of September until 10 March everyone could watch and vote for the shorts in the Online Competition on goshort.nl. From 14 March Nijmegen will be the center of short film for 5 days. This year, Go Short expands with a Festival Pavilion on the Mariënburgplein!

Pizza Verdi

The twenty-five films in the competition were watched over 8.000 times. The audience could rate the films with a maximum of five Go Short arrows, the Go Short trademark. Pizza Verdi, a stylishly filmed black-and-white film by Gary Nadeau shows us a cat-and-mouse game where nothing is what it seems to be. The seven minute film made it to second place in September, but in the final it got the most arrows by far. Pizza Verdi is a New York story that will keep you poised on the edge of your seat. The runner-ups are two films from the last qualifying round in January, Quattro Formaggio and Sotto Casa. Did you not see them yet? Then visit the website where you can watch the top three until the end of March. Go Short will be back in April with the newest online shorts.

Go Short Pavilion

Next Wednesday Go Short will kick off with the opening in the Festival Pavilion. The pavilion of more than 275 m2 will be on the Mariënburgplein in front of LUX for the first time, and is going to be the place for film concerts, lectures, and discussion programs. A very special lecture will be held in the pavilion by a living legend, Foley artist Mel Kutbay. Foley is the art of mimicking sounds. No noise, but purposely creating sounds for films and radio plays. Musicians and filmmakers will meet each other on the festival stage during a series of unique live performances. Film classics will be the inspiration for new soundtracks. There will also be enough to see, hear, and dance on other locations. Of course LUX, where all the films will be screened, will be the dazzling heart of the festival. The Polish programs will get a festive flavor on Thursday with Go Polski in Wunderbar. On Saturdaynight Max Hattler will have a unique cooperation with the producers of NEW, followed by the uplifting sounds of Dearworld. So come and watch, listen, dance, Go Short!

Go Short - International Short Film Festival Nijmegen is the festival for short film in the Netherlands. The fourth edition of Go Short takes place from 14 to 18 March 2012. The complete program with films, lectures, live performances, and parties can be found on http://www.goshort.nl/.
