Plus Camerimage announces lineup

The International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography PLUS CAMERIMAGE, has announced the entries screening in its main competition as well as the films competing in the Feature Length Documentary, Short Documentary, Polish Films, Music Videos, Student Etudes, Directors’ Debuts and Cinematographers’ Debut categories. The festival’s prestigious Golden Frog, Silver Frog and Bronze Frog awards will be bestowed upon main competition titles representing the year’s greatest achievements in cinematography. The festival is held in Bydgoszcz, Poland from November 26th to December 3rd, 2011.

This year’s Main Competition boasts a compelling and diverse slate of works from around the globe. The entries are Terence Malick’s The Tree of Life, Aki Kaurismäki's Le Havre, Lech Majewski’s The Mill and the Cross, Ralph Fiennes’ Coriolanus, Agnieszka Holland’s In Darkness, Lars von Trier’s Melancholia, Asghar Farhadi’s A Separation, Mikkel Munch-Fals’ Nothing’s All Bad, Wojciech Smarzowski’s Rose, Paula Markovitch’s El Premio, Steve McQueen’s Shame, Tom Tykwer’s 3, Tomas Alfredson’s Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, Lynne Ramsay’s We Need to Talk About Kevin and Andrea Arnold’s Wuthering Heights.

The festival’s Polish Films Competition entries, many of which are also in the running for accolades in other categories, are Black Thursday, Courage, Daas, Fear of Falling, Joanna, The Mole, My Name is Ki and Suicide Room.

Entries in the Feature Length Documentary Films Competition include Agnus Dei: Lamb of God, a co-production of Mexico and France; Blinding, from Canada; Doctors, from Poland; Epilogue, from Belgium; Forever Yours, from Finland; Hell and Back Again, a co-production of the U.K., U.S. and Afghanistan; How to Die in Oregon, from the U.S.; Invisible Strings: The Talented Pusker Sisters, from Hungary; Life, a Long Way Away, from France; Men’s School, from Italy; Phnom Penh Lullaby, from Poland; and Position Among the Stars, from Holland.

Competing in the Short Documentary Films category are 38,5, from Poland; 24HH, from Germany; Aisha’s Song, from Nigeria; Argentinian Lesson, from Poland; At the Stairs, from India; Breath, from Estonia; The Conquest of High Passes, from Holland; Decrescendo, from Poland; Flying Anne, from Holland; From Palestine with Love, from Denmark; I Will Forget This Day, from Russia; I’m Never Afraid!, from Holland: Inbetweener, from Sweden; Paparazzi, from Poland, Sensed, from Germany; Solace, from the U.K.; Steps to Eternity, an Israeli, Mexican and American coproduction; We Will Be Happy One Day, from Poland; and What Happened on Pam Island, from Poland.

The field of entries for the Music Videos Competition is as follows: Adele’s Rolling in the Deep, from the U.K.; Admiral Freebee’s Look at What Love Has Done, from Belgium; Brandon Flowers’ Only the Young, from the U.S.; DU’s So Hot, from Norway; Eatliz’s Loose This Child, from the U.S.; Eminem’s Space Bound, from the U.S.; Gil Scott-Heron and Jamie XX’s I’ll Take Care of You, from the U.S.; James Blake’s Limit to Your Love, from the U.K.; Kings of Leon’s Pyro, from the U.S.; L.U.C.’s 7 Awakening, from Poland; Lovett’s Eye of the Storm, from the U.S.; Manchester Orchestra’s Simple Math, from the U.S.; Massive Attack’s Pray for Rain, from the U.K.; Muzykoterapia’s Komedia, from Poland; Raphael Saadiq’s Stone Rollin’, from the U.S.; William Fitzsimmons’ Beautiful Girl, from the U.S.; WIM’s See You Hurry, from Australia; and Woodkid’s Iron, from France.

Vying for honors in the Directors’ Debuts Competition are Attenberg, from Greece; Breathing, from Austria; Fear of Falling, from Poland; Heat Wave, from France; Kidnapped, a French and Spanish co-production; Lullaby for Pi, a Canadian and French co-production; My Last Round, an Argentinian and Chilean co-production; Rebounce, from Denmark; Suicide Room, from Poland; and Way Home, from Germany.

Screening in the Cinematographers’ Debuts Competition are Combat Girls, from Germany; Fear of Falling, from Poland; Heat Wave, from France; Hell, a co-production of Germany and Switzerland; Kidnapped, a French and Spanish co-production; My Name is Ki, from Poland; North Sea, Texas, from Belgium; Suicide Room, from Poland; Way Home, from Germany; and With Every Heartbeat, from Sweden.

The always-competitive Student Etudes category, which honors the achievements of budding filmmakers studying at institutions around the world, includes Bloody Eyes, from France’s Le Fresnoy; The Bullet Catcher, from Chapman University in the U.S.; Canvas, from Centre d'Estudis Cinematografics de Catalunya in Spain; The Collegians, from Florida State University in the U.S.; The Cost, from the University of Southern California (USC) in the U.S.; Dark Desert Highway, from San Francisco’s Academy of Art University in the U.S.; Daybreak, from Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica in Mexico; Finale, from the Fotografus Foundation and School in Hungary; Hades, from The Baden-Württemberg Film Academy in Germany; The Unremarkable Life of Hans Boorman, from the NFTA in Holland; Junk Love, from The National Film School in Denmark; The Lion Shadows, from the American Film Institute (AFI) in the U.S.; A Long and Lonesome Road, from The Baden-Württemberg Film Academy in Germany; Moth, from the Australian Film, Television & Radio School (AFTRS); Nina Argentina, from the Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts (SADA) in Switzerland; Normal People and Red Point, both from the National Film School in Łódź, Poland; The People’s Wardrobe, from the University of the Arts, Cinema and Communication (UNIACC) in Chile; Placebo, from Tel Aviv University in Israel; Raju, from the Hamburg Media School (HMS) in Germany; The Rest is Silence, from the Warsaw Film School in Poland; Side A, from University of Silesia, Krzysztof Kieslowski's Faculty, in Poland; Submerged and Teardrop, both from HFF Potsdam in Germany; and Terminal Phase, from ECAM in Spain.
