Portland Documentary and eXperimental Film Festival

The 2005 Portland Documentary and eXperimental Film Festival (PDX for short) is now the third year of the festival, but those who have been around know that the fest is just an elongated version of the Peripheral Produce screening series that started in Portland way back in 1996.

The festival has received over 500 submissions from around the world, the schedule will feature some festival's old friends and new faces, lots of local work and some big-time premieres. But what inspired Peripheral Produce in the early days still remains the driving force today; There is a great need and importance to celebrate films and videos made outside the context of the entertainment industry and the mass media. From the purely artistic to the staunchly activist, every film or video in this festival is a small victory over the monopoly that Hollywood and big media has on our culture, and it is our aim to help amplify those victories.

Thank you,
Matt McCormick
Festival director and founder of Peripheral Produce
