Since its early days, Hollywood has been adapting foreign books, films and more recently television shows. This is why Paris-based THE MEDIA FACULTY and Los Angeles-based BASIC LEAD have joined forced to launch THE REMAKES MARKET, a new business event centered on the sale and acquisition of adaptation rights of European films, TV ideas and books. To be conducted in Los Angeles from 29 November to 1 December, THE REMAKES MARKET will showcase a unique selection of film, television and literary properties that have achieved high levels of popularity in their countries of origin, recently or in the past.

Patrick Jucaud and Laurent Chouraqui, General Managers of THE REMAKES MARKET, noted that “considering the number of remakes made over the years, it seems legitimate to dedicate one specific business event to the sale and acquisition of international film, tv and book adaptation rights. We are very excited by this new challenge and feel that the timing is right for such a focused industry gathering”.

Rights holders representing these properties will be attending the 3-day event, making themselves available each day from 10 AM to 5 PM for private meetings organized in advance with film and TV producers, agents, filmmakers, TV show directors, screenplay writers and project packagers looking for adaptation rights.

In order to facilitate the preliminary organization of meetings between foreign rights holders and mostly Hollywood-based rights buyers, all properties presented at market will be featured in a catalogue mailed three weeks before THE REMAKES MARKET.

Over the 3 days, this first edition should welcome 50 right-holders offering close to 100 properties in total, and 200 potential rights buyers.
