Martin Scorsese Masterclass in Cannes

Sacramento French festival... Do you love Paris?

Only six weeks before the opening of the 6th Sacramento French Film Festival, on Friday July 20.
Have a taste of the SFFF right now. Join us at the Crest this Saturday, June 9, for the 8:15pm screening of PARIS, JE T’AIME, the much-discussed homage to Paris the “City of Lights.”
Eighteen different directors and a slew of indie actors came together for PARIS, JE T'AIME, a cinematic homage to the City of Lights. Each director presents his or her own short story set in a different Parisian quarter, each one featuring a different cast of characters. The pieces vary in length, with some of them striving to tell a fully developed tale – no matter how simple the plot - while others are more abstract and rely on sparse dialogue and vivid imagery.
With French directors such as Olivier Assayas, Bruno Podalydes, Sylvain Chomet and Gérard Depardieu; and American directors such as Gus Van Sant, Alexander Payne, Wes Craven, and the Coen brothers participating, the tales are as varied and oddball as one might expect.
Maggie Gyllenhaal plays a lonely actress with a fondness for her hash dealer. Elijah Wood encounters a seductive vampire on a moonlit street. Steve Buscemi is a flustered tourist. Natalie Portman falls for a deaf Frenchman. Each tale is markedly unique and specific to the quirky style of its director, and the film is a veritable who's who for indie buffs. The movie feels mysterious and magical, evoking the romance and longing the city is famous for. The run time is two hours and it’s Rated R.

There will be a pre-screening drawing to win passes to the SFFF and other goodies and a post-screening discussion led by Kevin Elstob, professor of French at CSUS!
And the Crest is generously offering complimentary coffee and pastries during the post-screening discussion.
Tickets will be $8.50 general, $5.50 for seniors.
