Shoot Me New Film Festival in The Hague

Shoot Me : takes place from 27 to 30 October, The Hague, The Netherlands

Shoot Me is a new independent film festival in The Hague that offers a chance to young filmmakers, both local and international, to show their films to a large public.

Because of the increased use of new technology such as the Internet, digital recording and editing, creating your own film is within the reach of a growing number of people. Everybody can tell his or her story. Unfortunately, these films often don’t reach the public because they lack a platform where they can be showed and get what they deserve. Shoot me offers this platform on several unique locations in the inner city of The Hague. The ‘Filmhuis Den Haag’, the old bank safe from the ‘Nutshuis’, the ‘Affiche Gallerij’ in the ‘tramtunnel’ (Station Spui) and the Shoot me Base in the basement at Prinsegracht 8 will form the background for this promising new film festival.

The opening of the Shoot Me Film Festival on Thursday 27 October is being organised in close cooperation with VillaNuts.

Shoot Me – Programme

Shoot me focuses on the different views and realities of both the public and filmmakers. As well in front of as behind the camera you can relate to trends, and ways of experiencing modern society. During the film festival you have a chance to watch around 25 short films and documentaries and movies. Some of the involved directors will also be present in The Hague.

On display:

*Biyik, the Moustache from the female Turkish director Belmin Soylemez is about mustaches, men and masculinity. *Skinhead Attitude from Swiss born Daniel Schweizer goes back to the beginning of the skinhead-movement in the sixties en focuses on the radicalisation of the movement. * Skateboard-documentaries such as Stoked and The Rise and Fall of Gator, about the ‘fallen’ skateboard-legend Mark Gator Rogowski. * Young refugees not being able to get a foot in the door in the documentary In Transit van Berke Bas. * The daily life in surfers’ paradise Tarifa where illegal immigrants from North-Africa often don’t survive the dangerous crossing in Tarifa Traffic from German director Joakim Demmer. *The documentary Afropunk follows the black punk scene in the US.* And how to survive the San Luis Potosi (Mexico) desert in Tropico de Cancer.*
