Solaris Kino becomes the first fully digital multiplex in Central and Eastern Europe

By next week, Tallinn's Solaris Kino becomes the first fully digital 3D multiplex in Central and Eastern Europe, after recent investments of over $1,000,000.

“Solaris Kino has so far been the most modern multiplex in the Baltic States, but from next week it will clearly become the highest-quality cinema complex in the whole region,” said Priit Rebane of BDG, head of the current development project at Solaris Kino. “Our aim is to be the regional pioneers of the best cinema entertainment today as well as in the future, together with our partners like Meyer Sound,” Rebane added.

Solaris Kino will become the region’s first fully digital multiplex with all screens equipped with Dolby 3D Digital Cinema system. Barco and NEC second generation digital cinema projectors and Doremi servers are being installed, accompanied by large new wall-to-wall screens and a new generation sound system Cinema Experience by Meyer Sound Laboratories that features extreme fidelity, power and dynamics. All screens have also been made Dolby Surround 7.1 compatible.

A brand new Solaris Kino web page www.solariskino.ee was also launched today, with edited content on movies and a new online ticketing system in cooperation with Vista, whereby digital cinema tickets are sent direct to the user's mobile phone.

“We have invested more than a million dollars into the quality of our multiplex throughout the year and will definitely continue these developments in the future, using all top technological solutions available in order to keep Solaris Kino among the best in the world,” Rebane assured. "This will raise our cinema experience even further, save distribution costs to studios, and allow us to be extremely flexible with programming of our screens according to customer demands."

Solaris Kino, located in the entertainment and lifestyle centre Solaris in Estonia’s capital Tallinn has the largest modern 525-seat screen in Estonia, 88,000 loyalty club card members, its own weekly national TV3 program "Kinominutid" and on SkyPlus radio network. In December, four new 3D movies will premiere at the all-digital Solaris Kino.
