StoryLink a new Social network for screenwriters

The Writers Store® (www.writersstore.com), the premier resource center for writers and filmmakers worldwide, today announced the official launch of StoryLink (www.storylink.com), the first social networking website specifically created for screenwriters and filmmakers. StoryLink offers members countless opportunities to network with professional and aspiring creatives and to promote, share and market their materials or services. StoryLink is the only online destination that combines the crafts of screenwriting and filmmaking in one community. Membership to StoryLink is free; minimum age for enrollment is 16 years.

StoryLink contains all the features of a robust networking website. In addition, StoryLink incorporates information about sponsored, free and paid events throughout the United States for both in-person networking and to support the advancement of its members' creative goals. Members have exclusive access to a comprehensive list of workshops, contests, seminars, retreats and lectures.

A unique feature debuting with this launch is the Services at StoryLink area, which allows members to hire expert freelancers and professional firms geared toward their creative needs. Through "Services," valuable resources can be found and used for any project or production without adding overhead, long-term commitments or the need to endure the time-consuming process of recruiting. Members rate their service professionals and companies with a unique five-star system for the benefit of the entire StoryLink community. Easy-to-use private collaboration tools are incorporated to make communication and file sharing simple and secure.

Since its beta launch in March 2007, over three thousand media creatives have joined StoryLink. To date, over two hundred contests and hundreds of events have been listed.

"Our aim at StoryLink is to cater to the needs of scriptwriters and filmmakers who wish to sharpen their craft and interact with each other in ways they have never previously had available," said Jesse Douma, Founder. "StoryLink enables members of the creative community to meet their peers both online and in the physical world, allowing them to grow within the diversity of StoryLink's communal spirit, sharing support, information, products and services with each other."

"StoryLink is the best friend a screenwriter could ever have. It is a unique support system that benefits all, no matter where you live in the world," said Syd Field. Regarded by many to be the leading authority in the art of screenwriting today, Syd's internationally acclaimed best-selling books Screenplay, The Screenwriter's Workbook, and The Screenwriter's Problem Solver have established themselves as the "bibles" of the film industry. They are used in more than 395 colleges and universities and have been translated into 19 languages.

An example of the unique events offered to StoryLink members was the StoryLink All-Stars Live at The Great American PitchFest held in June, 2007. Over one thousand StoryLink members participated in a dozen free classes conducted by world-class scriptwriting instructors Pilar Alessandra, David Freedman, Michael Hauge, Karl Iglesias, Viki King, Ellen Sandler, Dr. Linda Seger, Blake Snyder and Kathie Fong Yoneda.
