TERRA CGI film wins 8th award

TERRA WINS 8th AWARD

MeniThings latest CGI film 'Terra' was presented with the 'Directors Choice Award' this past week by the Black Maria Film Festival. The prize was awarded to director Aristomenis Tsirbas by an international jury at this Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences sanctioned festival. This is Terra's 8th festival win.
Festival director John Columbus praised director Meni's "Dynamic characters and unique cinematic expression". 'Terra' was chosen for this honor from over 700 features and shorts recognized by the jury. This recent accolade marks a return to the winners circle for MeniThings Productions after their 2002 film
"The
Freak"

received the 'Directors Choice Award' in 2003 from this widely respected festival.

Following the rigorous jury process, the festival launches a nationwide tour to over 700 institutions. John Columbus announced 'Terra' will be featured in each of the national screenings and stated "We are proud to offer our patrons a look at the work of this extraordinary filmmaker for the second consecutive year". The 23 year old festival’s mission is to recognize, celebrate, and exhibit emerging talent .The festivals home base is the location where Thomas Edison developed the technology for the Motion Picture over 100 years ago.

The name "Black Maria" specifically refers to the laboratory that became the world’s first motion picture studio. The "Black Maria" heralded the dawn of motion pictures and this new medium was used to capture and record the artistic expression of many of the notable performers of the Victorian era. Today, the festival and its tour of the nation’s film institutions has resulted in numerous artistic awards and acclaim. The selected works offer a complete variety of cutting edge techniques and artistic vision. The tour will begin later this month at the Smithsonian Institution, which will include award winner "Terra"
