Terry Gilliam, Taylor Hackford among guest at Capri fest

American directors Terry Gilliam and Taylor Hackford, Shekhar Kapur from India, and Italian Roberto Faenza will appear together at a forum on the cinema industry that is a highlight of the 10th anniversary edition of the Capri, Hollywood Kimbo Film Festival to be held December 27, 2005 through January 2, 2006 on the Isle of Capri.

The four leaders of world moviemaking are the first artists to confirm their participation in the cinema forum. The event will showcase ideas about the future of film distribution, product placement, creativity and technological advances into television, the Internet and even the fast-evolving telephone industry. The event is promoted by Capri in the World Institute in collaboration with RAI Trade, Kimbo and the Chamber of Commerce of Naples. The important occasion will compare ideas from the varying perspectives of international directors, artists and the companies that use and distribute their creations.

Among the leading example of product placement is director Sydney Pollack's recent film The Interpreter, which featured an advanced telephone system used at the United Nations and took product placement well beyond the usual food, beverages, clothes and cars.

Among the other artists who have confirmed their participation at Capri, Hollywood is Swedish actor Max Von Sydow, still active in films at the age of 76, who will receive a Capri Legend award. His wife, Katrin, will show festival goers her own pictures from backstage on the set of The Inquiry, where he was working in Tunisia. The film, directed by Giulio Base, is the most recent production of Fulvio Lucisano. Other cast members include Dolph Lundgren, F. Murray Abraham, Monica Cruz, Ornella Muti and Daniele Liotti.

Another special prize at Capri, Hollywood will be presented to Italian-American director Abel Ferrara, who has spent portions of his career in the United States and in Rome. Coming soon is the announcement of the schedule of films to be screened in Capri and Anacapri, and the names of the stars who will appear in the Piazzetta as a highlight of the holiday season of films and stars.

Other organizations importantly involved in support of Capri, Hollywood include the cinema office of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Assets, Cinecittá Holding, RAI Sat, Acqua Lete, and Harmont & Blaine.
