The 9th Shanghai International Film Festival will take place 17 – 25 June, 2006. It falls into four major sections which are Jin Jue Award International Film Competition, Jin Jue International Film Forum, International Film Panorama and International Film & TV Market. It is a new start for the Festival to accept film submissions online in 2006.
By April 28th,the SIFF COMMITTEE has received 682 motion pictures from 52 countries in applications has shot up by almost 200 compared to 2005,and has hit a new record high.
The applicants range from master pieces by world-renowned film artists to debuts of promising young talents. There are both films to premier at the SIFF and those that have already earned high reputation from the Academy Awards, the cannes and the Berlin Film Festival, including blockbuster hits from North America and Europe. The 2006 SIFF has received scores of outstanding Chinese applications has already reached a record high in the history of the SIFF and is set to rise even further.
