The European Film Academy awards for shorts

The European Film Academy (EFA), United International Pictures and the
Curtas Vila do Conde International Short Film Festival congratulate the
winner of the PRIX UIP VILA DO CONDE 2006
Short Film Nominee for the European Film Awards 2006

The Prix UIP is an initiative by UIP and the European Film Academy in
co-operation with fourteen festivals throughout Europe. Each prize
includes a financial donation of EUR 2,000 and an automatic nomination
in the short film category of the European Film Awards 2006.

The winner was selected by the festival's international jury consisting
of US filmmaker and historian Bruce Posner, French critic Philippe
Azoury and Portuguese author and TV presenter Maria João Seixas.

BY THE KISS is Yann Gonzalez's first film. It joins eight other films
that have already been nominated:

DELIVERY by Till Nowak (Germany) at the Flanders International Film
Festival Ghent
VINCENT by Giulio Ricciarelli (Germany) at the Valladolid International
Film Festival
PISTACHE by Valérie Pirson (France) at the Premiers Plans -- Festival
d'Angers,
MEANDER by Joke Liberge (Belgium) at the International Film Festival
Rotterdam
EL CERCO by Ricardo Íscar & Nacho Martín (Spain) at the Berlin
International Film Festival
BEFORE DAWN by Bálint Kenyeres (Hungary) at the Tampere Short Film Festival FOR INTÉRIEUR by Patrick Poubel (France) at the Cracow Film Festival SNIFFER by Bobbie Peers (Norway) at the Norwegian Short Film Festival

The remaining nominees will be selected in co-operation with:

Sarajevo Film Festival (Bosnia-Herzegovina)
Edinburgh International Film Festival (UK)
Venice International Film Festival (Italy)
Short Film Festival in Drama (Greece)
Cork Film Festival (Ireland)


The overall winner will be presented during the European Film Awards on
December 2 and will receive a donation of EUR 10,000.
