The European Independent Film Festival in Paris

The European Independent Film Festival 2006

The ÉCU festival will take place on the weekend 25th and 26th of March 2006 at La Bibliothèque nationale de France in Paris. The Festival is bringing worldwide exposure to European independent films and independent filmmakers and the quality of the films submitted to the festival has been outstanding.

ECU’s mission is to showcase the very best independent films from European independent filmmakers but there are also four categories open to Non-European films which means that films have been received from far and wide. The festival has received submissions from:

The organizers of the ÉCU festival are proud to have created a superb showcase arena for independent film makers from around the world - particularly those from Europe who rarely get the same exposure as their US counterparts who have festivals like Sundance – where they will be coming together to watch, critique and learn from films that they never would have had the chance to see otherwise.

The full list of our jury has not been finalized but we have confirmations from Arthur Junot (Actor / Director), Christian Reid (EICAR), Jo Halderman (CBS) and we are waiting on some last minute schedule conflicts with several directors, actors and actresses to be resolved. We'd hoped to have had Kiera Knightly (Pride and Prejudice) on the jury but she wrote us a nice note saying that she'd be shooting in Egypt at the time of the festival.

Prizes from AVID, SCRIPTSHARK, FUJI FILM, EUROSTAR and WRITE BROTHERS will be presented to the award-winning films and filmmakers

During the ECU Festival there will be several events which will be of enormous interest not only to the independent filmmaker but also for the film-going public.

- Avid will be holding workshops to advise film makers about the most effective workflows for film post-production

- The Hollywood-based script analysts SCRIPTSHARK will be conducting script labs and offering each participant a six-month posting on their ‘SPEC MARKET’ site which is visited daily by hundreds of industry professionals.

- The French urban-rock band 'Eric John Kaiser' will be giving a performance on Saturday night after the festival in the Frog and Library pub right after the festival on Saturday night – a perfect place for filmmakers to meet up, exhange ideas and contacts..

Nothing like the European Independent Film Festival has existed until now and it's terribly exciting to witness its emergence as a force to reckoned with in the world of independent filmmaking.

The address of the La Bibliothèque nationale de France is Quai Francois-Mauriac in the 13th arrondissment and the Metro station is Bibliothèque Fracois Mitterand. Entry is FREE and the festival will screen films from 10.00am on Saturday until 19.00 and from 13.00 until 19.00 on the Sunday
