The Ibiza and Formentera Film Festival appointed jury members

The Ibiza and Formentera Film Festival (29 of May to 7 of June) presented three prestigious members of the festival jury in the Hotel Pacha. They will form part of the 10 day event which will transform Ibiza into the capital of the film industry for the duration.

Ronnie Taylor received an Oscar in Hollywood for his work as director of photography in Ghandi (1982). He has worked in more than one hundred movies next to directors of such renown as Richard Attenborough, Stanley Kubrick, George Lucas, Dario Argento, and Ken Russell. Star Wars (1977), The Phantom of the Opera (1998) Popcorn (1991)and Sea of Love (1989) form part of his best known productions.

Taylor has been a resident of Ibiza for some time and stated that “after a lifetime in the movie business I am thrilled to see a festival celebrating the world of film in my new found home”, the veteran DOP considers this “to be a great occasion for independent directors to show their work.

For his part, Jonathan Debin, who has recently completed the filming of Silk, an adaptation of the novel by Alessandro Baricco, directed by Francois Girad and interpreted by Keira Knightly and Alfred Molina; and the second part of The Hills Have Eyes, claimed that the festival “Must be synchronized with the spirit of freedom of the island.”

Responsible for movies such as Sunshine (1999) with Ralph Fiennes, 51st State (2001) with Samuel L.Jackson, Max (2002) with John Cusack and Second in Command (2006) with Jean Claude Van Damme he underlined the importance of celebrating a film festival , “in an island with a unique footprint and an extremely interesting cultural history.”

Finally, the third member of the jury, score composer Michael Hoenig whose work includes the unforgettable films Koyaanisqatsi (1982) Nine and a Half Weeks (1986) The Blob (1988) and Max Headroom (1987) considered this event “ a great opportunity to give incentive to those who may have lower budgets and limited mea
