THE MAHINDRA IND0-AMERICAN ARTS COUNCIL FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES NOMINEES FOR SEVEN AWARD CATEGORIES– WINNERS TO BE AWARDED AT CLOSING NIGHT
* The Categories include Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Documentary and Best Short
* Closing Night Red Carpet Awards Ceremony on Nov 11th at the Asia Society

The Mahindra Indo-American Arts Council Film Festival announces the nominees for the seven award categories for this year’s festival. The six award categories include Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Documentary and Best Short. The nominees were selected by distinguished jurors and the winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony immediately following the closing night screening of Rituparno Ghosh’s R16;The Last LearR17; on November 11th at the Asia Society, New York. Confirmed attendees for this invitation-only red carpet event include Salman Rushdie, Madhur Jaffrey, Sarita Choudhry, Shashi Tharoor, Mira Nair, Konkana Sen Sharma, Aasif Mandvi, Rituparno Ghosh and Buddhadeb Das Gupta. The initiation and integration of a full-fledged red carpet Awards Ceremony for this year’s MIAAC Film Festival highlights the growth of the festival and Indo-American Arts Council’s (IAAC) dedication to raise the profile of South Asian film industry.
As the premiere Awards Ceremony for South Asian independent cinema, MIAAC will recognize and celebrate the achievements of today’s most progressive and gifted talent participating in the Festival. The winners will be chosen based upon artistic merit, unique and compelling message, visual storytelling quality as well as creative freedom. Prominent South Asians will be handing the winners awards amounting to over $40,000.
