The Nomading Film Festival (NoFF) descends on Manhattan

The Nomading Film Festival (NoFF) descends on Manhattan in a mere five days and it was just announced that the founders are going to be raffling off an 8-day trip for two in Denali National Park, sponsored by Intrepid Travel. All one has to do is buy a ticket to the festival and his/her name is in the drawing.

Other festival giveaways will include trips from Outdoor Bound, gift certificates courtesy of Chris Guillebeau, Travel Hacking Cartel, Unconventional Guides, flip flops courtesy of Feelgoodz, and a few other goodies. The creator of the winning film as selected by the judges will receive a trip for two in India, sponsored by Intrepid Travel. Other film winners as decided by the audience will receive healthy gift certificates to EMS.

In this inaugural year of the festival, the founders are giving away prizes totaling almost $8,000. “We know that we are nothing without our community so we worked hard with our partners to try and give back to those people who really made the Nomading Film Festival possible,” said Mikey Kavalus, co-founder of the festival.

The film festival will take place on June 18th, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at Hostelling International in New York City, the largest hostel in North America and home to the biggest private outdoor gathering space in Manhattan. Tickets for the event can be purchased on Eventbrite and cost $25 until the day of the event. The entrance fee includes 2 tacos from the Tribeca Taco Truck and two drinks courtesy of Butternuts Beer & Ale and The Naked Grape winery. Additional activities at the festival will include live music, lawn games, a photo and video station and a few other entertainment surprises throughout the day. Lonely Planet’s U.S. Editor, Robert Reid, will be the festival’s keynote speaker.

With an expected attendance of approximately 250 guests, travelers throughout North America and New York City’s own formidable travel community will come out to support the film festival and NoFF’s commitment to bringing together travel adventures both on screen and in person.

About the Nomading Film Festival
The first of its kind, the Nomading Film Festival (NoFF) is not just a film festival but a unique celebration that caters to travelers who film, not just filmmakers who travel. NoFF believes that stories caught on film, while traveling, are some of the most entertaining, educating and authentic films created. Born from the non-fiction media production company Nomading Films – producer of a variety of short-form documentaries from around the world, and the soon to be released feature-length film “My Village, My Lobster” – the Nomading Film Festival will take place in New York City on June 18th, 2011 and will acknowledge the nomads who leave their comfort zones behind and capture their adventures on film.
