The prizes of the Warsaw International Film Festival

In the fifth edition of the New Films, New Directors International Competition, the jury comprising Petr Zelenka, Ilya Khrzhanovsky, Alberto Fuguet, Ognjen Sviličić, and Piotr Szczepański awarded the Grand Prix NESCAFÉ and 5,000 euros to Ivan Vyrypaev for Euphoria (Russia).

The Cinemax Award for Best Script went to Retrieval directed by Sławomir Fabicki (script: Sławomir Fabicki, Denijal Hasanović, Marek Pruchniewski).
The same picture also received a Special Jury Prize for visual quality & sound design.
The competition jury gave another Special Jury Prize (for putting life on the screen), to the German film Longing directed by Valeska Grisebach.
In the Regional Competition for films from Central and Eastern Europe, the jury comprising Ellis Driessen, Peter Belsito, and Gilli Mendel granted the Polsat Award for Best Film to Boris Khlebnikov for Free Floating (Russia).
In the Feature Length Documentary Competition, the jury comprising Sergey Lavrentiev, Ewa Banaszkiewicz, and Stefan Uhrik, decided that the best film was God Is My DJ directed by Carin Goeijers from the Netherlands.

The FIPRESCI Award for the best first or second film by a director from Central and Eastern Europe, granted by a jury comprising Ronald Bergan, Jan Olszewski, and Michael Ranze, went to Ágnes Kocsis for Fresh Air (Hungary).

The winner of the Audience Award at the 22nd Warsaw International Film Festival is the German film The Lives of Others directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck. The film`s distributor in Poland is Monolith Plus.

3. Grbavica, dir. Jasmila Žbanić, Bosnia and Herzegovina/Croatia/Austria/ Germany. Distribution in Poland: Kino Świat International.
4. Ghosts of Cité Soleil, dir. Asger Leth, Denmark. The film does not have a Polish distributor.
5. Babel, dir. Alejandro Gonzáles Inárritu, USA/Guatemala. Distribution in Poland: Monolith Plus.
6. Eden, dir. Michael Hofmann, Germany/Switzerland. The film does not have a Polish distributor.
7. The Border Post, dir. Rajko Grlić, Serbia and Montenegro/Croatia, Slovenia/Bosnia and Herzegovina/Macedonia. The film does not have a Polish distributor.
8. Offside, dir. Jafar Panahi, Iran. The film does not have a Polish distributor.
9. The 9th Company, dir. Fyodor Bondarchuk, Russia/Finland/Ukraine. Distribution in Poland: Monolith Films.
10. Sketches of Frank Gehry, dir. Sydney Pollack, Germany/USA. The film does not have a Polish distributor.
This was the 19th Audience Poll at the Warsaw International Film Festival. All the films screened at the Festival took part. Before each screening, audience members received coupons on which they gave marks to the film once they had seen it: “very good”, “good”, “so-so”, “bad”. For those who took part in the voting, there will be a prize draw for three double free entrance tickets to next year`s Festival.
