Waiting for inaugural Dubai International Film Festival

The first Dubai International Film Festival [DIFF] is being organized by the Dubai Media City and will start on Monday December 6th and end on the evening of Saturday December 11th 2004. The festival will feature 80 films, which include 55 main features, 10 sidebar screenings and 15 Arab short films, which will showcase contemporary and classic global cinema. The main venue of the Dubai Film Festival will be the new Madinat Jumeirah, The Arabian Resort of Dubai, but other screenings will take place at various venues and cinemas around Dubai, United Arab Emirates [UAE].

DIFF Film Program
The Dubai Gala Screening - During the six nights of the festival, six red carpet evening gala screenings will be held at the Madinat Jumeirah.

Arabian Nights - A selection of 15 films by filmmakers from the Arab world will be showcased as the best of contemporary Arab cinema.

Operation Cultural Bridge - This category focuses on the conflict and misunderstanding between the Islamic and Western worlds. 8 internationally selected films focusing on tearing down the wall between the two worlds.

Bollywood Meets Hollywood - 6 selected of classic Bollywood and new crossover films produced or inspired by Bollywood will be shown.

Cinema from the Subcontinent - 4 films produced by emerging young and independent filmmakers from Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will be shown.

Destination Documentary - 5 documentary films focusing on shining a spotlight on the planet's precious natural resources and the reminder of importance to protect the environment and natural habitat.
