Martin Scorsese Masterclass in Cannes

York (shire) Fest new face

York Independent Film Festival has now become York International Film Festival.
So what else has changed apart from the name?

We've now moved our website to www.yiff.co.uk (update your bookmarks if you still have our old address!), and introduced a new competetive category for films
originating from Yorkshire alongside the usual awards for best feature,
short, animation, documentary, short-short and the audience vote. We're
assembling a new judging panel, featuring regular contributors to the
national newsstand film magazine HOTDOG and the man behind Leeds
International Film Festival, with more to be announced. We're hooking up
with other major events, too - Short Circuits touring festival and the
Birds Eye View womens film festival.

And what has stayed the same? YIFF is still run by a team of dedicated
volunteers, many of whom throw their own money as well as time into the
festival in a bid to reach as many people and include as many films as
possible. YIFF is still held at City Screen cinema, by the riverside in
the very heart of the City of York. YIFF still maintains complete
independence from any controlling organisation, political
considerations, hype machines and marketing when selecting films. We
show what we feel deserves to be shown to the public, and what we think
the public deserves a chance to see. YIFF still exists to bridge the gap
between indie film maker and audience in an under served area. YIFF
still aims to support the film makers to the utmost of our ability.

YIFF still needs YOU.

If you have an outstanding film, contact the festival before the 1st of December 2003. The entry forms are on filmfestivals.com
If you have limited funds and can't afford our entry fee then please ask for a copy of our Assisted Place application.
