Venice European Gap-Financing Market

The Venice Film Market  is pleased to present the 2nd edition of the European Gap-Financing Market, which will take place on September 4 and 5, 2015. The European Gap-Financing Market is a new platform intended to support the European producers to secure the final financing of their projects through one-to-one meetings with potential and appropriate international professionals. The main criteria to participate in this original event is to have 70% of the financing in place, and the VFM is offering 15 selected projects the unique opportunity to close their international financing through selected financiers, producers, distributors, sales agents, post-production companies and film funds. This year the EGFM has the invaluable support of the MEDIA program of the European Union and the 15 selected projects are:

·  #flora63 by Stéphane ROBELIN (France/Belgium/Germany)
·  Bianco by Daniele VICARI (Italy/France)
·  Letters from War by Ivo FERREIRA (Portugal)
·  Comic Sans by Nevio MARASOVIC (Croatia/ Slovenia)
·  Diamond Island by Davy CHOU (France/ Cambodia)
·  The Eremites by Ronny TROCKER (Germany)

The Venice International Film Festival plays a central role in the worldwide recognition of quality films from all over the world and especially from Europe. Created in 2012, the Venice Film Market (VFM) is devoted to offer to the key cinema industry players a new rendez-vous and platform to present and discover high-quality films and projects.
The VFM has thus decided to launch a new kind of co-production market targeted to the industry professionals attending the Festival.

The Venice European Gap-Financing Market is a platform to support the European producers to secure the final financing of their projects through one-to-one meetings with potential and pertinent international professionals (producers, sales agents, distributors, financiers, broadcasters and funds). All the invited professionals are decision-makers.

The first edition in 2014 has been very well received and has clearly made an impact in the industry and the figures are there : 186 one-to-one meetings between the 15 project teams and the 56 decision-makers (Cofiloisirs, Carnaby International, Creativity Capital, Eurimages, Dogwoof, Herodiade, Pyramide, Senator, the Fuzz Facility, Fandango, MK2, TF1, Pathé, UGC, Wild Bunch...).

A tailor-made initiative of this kind requests a real confidentiality for the producers and the partners already in place and a first Project line-up will therefore be sent to selected potential financiers and professionals in order to allow them to register to this co-production market.

The catalogue detailing each film project will then be emailed to the registered professionals by the beginning of July 2015 to entitle them to request 30-minute one-to-one meeting with the producers of the selected projects. The Venice European Gap-Financing Market will set up these meetings in accordance with the availability of the participants and meetings slots. Each participant will receive a personalised meeting schedule a few days before the event.
