In a year with unusually rich programming the complete retro of the films of John Waters was an outstanding highlight -- Pink Flamingos and all the rest. It was more than high time for Waters, the foremost American cinema satirist of the XXc. to finally gain recognition at a major film festival. Locarno is highly to be congratulated for having the savvy to take the initiative. Let it be noted that Waters' brand of humor in a jugular vein is deeply rooted in an American slang...

Taiwan International Children’s Film Festival (TICFF) is a biennial event founded by Public Television Service (PTS) in 2004. It is the first film and television festival in Asia dedicated entirely to children at the age of 4-12.
The 9th edition of TICFF is scheduled for April 2020 in Taipei. We are calling for entries for the international competition section with a cash prize of US$25,000 in total for extraordinary productions of dramas, animations and TV/Web programs.
Submissions to competition will also be considered as candidates for our official selection. As the oldest and biggest children’s film festival in Taiwan, TICFF has established a reputation in film selection. Many films screened in TICFF later got invited by other children’s festivals in Taiwan, or approached by Taiwanese distributors and educators. So this could be a great opportunity for your films to get exposure in Taiwan!
We also welcome submissions to our non-competitive sections, including documentaries and “Kids as Directors” productions. “Kids as Directors Workshop” is a project for young filmmakers in Taiwan to take the lead and create their own works with assistance from professionals. Their works will be screened during the festival along with productions made by international young filmmakers.

40th Manaki Brothers Cinematographers International FilmFestival
September 14 to 21 September in Bitola, Macedonia
Now accepting submissions for the 40th edition of ICFF “Manaki Brothers”
The International Cinematographers’ Film Festival “MANAKI BROTHERS”, is the first and oldest international film festival dedicated to the creativity of cinematographers across the world. It started in 1979 at the initiative of one of the main founders-AFPM/the Association of Film Professionals of Macedonia (which will celebrate its 70th jubilee next year), and was co-organized with the host-city of Bitola and the Cinematheque of Macedonia, established in honor and inspired by the abundant photographic/cinematographic opus of the MANAKI brothers: Yanaki (1878-1954) and Milton (1880-1964), whose 140th birth anniversary is to be celebrated next year as well. Thus, naturally, the cornerstones of the future festival were laid, in the town at the foot of Pelister, the City of Consuls - Bitola, where the Manaki brothers had their photo-studio and cinema theater.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Review: Good, but not as Tarantino was, once upon a time It is inspired by the murders of actress Sharon Tate and her friends at the hands of a hippy cult in 1969, only the film re-writes this historical fact. USA 2019 Documentary 89 minutes

Out of Sight , Out of Mind by Brian Follmer
123 minutes USA 2019 Trailer
Out of Sight, Out of Mind is a satire about mental illness in the 21st century. It is an exploration of the way mental illness manifests itself through the internet, the way society rewards the mentally ill for their entertainment value on Youtube or Facebook, and the way society's only answer to this problem is institutionalization and dangerous medication. At its heart, the film is a coming of age story about the characters Travis and O'Brien as they struggle with their mental and emotional issues. The film is shot in a hyper-realistic style, echoing the work of John Cassavetes, Terrence Malick, and the biting satirical edge of Jonathan Franzen. The film is based on a true story and was first discovered at Rotrterdam festival.
Travis's tight social group of friends and lovers splits apart when his childhood friend, O'Brien becomes severely mentally ill. Now alone, the characters go their separate ways: Travis helps crowd-fund a socialist revolution in Mexico, O'Brien succumbs to mania and becomes a satirical Youtube celebrity, Kate seeks stability in online dating, and Lox embarks on his first indie rock tour. Their lives continue to cross paths and reconnect through the internet.

THE MYSTERY OF A BURYAT LAMA», directed by Elena Demidova
The documentary film «THE MYSTERY OF A BURYAT LAMA», directed by Elena Demidova, tells a story of one of the most famous lamas, Pandido Khambo Lama Dashi Dorzho Itigelov. His body is recognized as one of the sacred Buddhist objects of Russia and is being kept in the Ivolginsky Datsan. The Buddhist monks approach him as a living person.
Itigelov was born in 1852 and began his religious education at the age of sixteen years. In 1911, he was appointed the twelfth Pandido Khambo Lama as the Head of Russian Buryat Buddhists. Between 1913 and 1917, Itigelov was prominent in the spiritual life of Russian Empire. He took part in the Tercentenary celebrations of the House Romanov and opened first Buddhist temple in St. Petersburg. During First World War Itigelov presided over the society of "Buryat brothers", an organization helping the Russian army. After October Revolution, Itigelov resigned as head of the Buddhists. In 1927, aged seventy-five years, he asked other lamas to begin meditation ceremonies and funeral rites, since he said he was about to die. Itigelov left a testament asking to be buried as he was at the time of his death, sitting in lotus posture. On September 11, 2002, Itigelov's body was eventually exhumed in the presence of the leaders of the Buddhist Traditional Sangha of Russia and transferred to Ivolginsky Datsan.

"A film that Google does not want you to see - filmfestivals.com Best for Fest"
An eye-opening documentary, The Creepy Line reveals the stunning degree to which society is manipulated by Google and Facebook and blows the lid off the remarkably subtle – hence powerful – manner in which they do it.
The Creepy Line is a title culled from the words of former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, when during a 2010 interview he explained Google’s code of conduct: “The Google policy on a lot of things is to get right up to the creepy line and not cross it.”
However, as Dr. Robert Epstein explains in the film, “Google crosses the creepy line every day”.
Offering first-hand accounts, scientific experiments and detailed analysis, The Creepy Line examines what is at risk when these two tech titans have free reign to utilize the public’s most private and personal data to manipulate society.
