Lets Talk About Liffe20 years of Ljubljana Film Festival-LIFFE http://en.liffe.si/another film festival of the world starts tonight, 11th of November 2009. The Ljubljana International Film Festival presents Slovenian particular audiences of about 50,000 the standouts of Slovenian cinema, for two weeks. The Festival presents the best in international cinema and is your chance to catch films that may have been unnoticed and evaluate those who has already been written by the critics. The twentieth anniversary also symbolizes the fall of the Iron Curtain and the fifth anniversary of an extensive enlargement of European Union. The audience of the twentieth-anniversary of LIFFe can look forward to see selection of films. The film retrospective involves the dramatic events of the time of democratic changes in Central and Eastern Europe, the fall of the Berlin Wall and reunification that will present selected European film titles. The film selection is divided into sections thematically, genre-oriented (Extravagance), innovative (Against the Wind), buzz (Focus), or the masterpieces (Kings & Queens). The Kingfisher Award is waiting to be given to the best new film from the Perspectives section, and the audience gets to make their own mind by voting for award titled Audience Award. Festival section Perspectives will be the official competitive section of a new authors competing for Mobitel’s Kingfisher Award Avant-premieres, films meant to go for Slovenian distribution. Kings and Queens, films by award-winning of contemporary film, World Film Panorama, the front-runners of five-continent festivals, Extravaganza, late-night cinema of “daring idiosyncratic artists addressing sensual topics.” Focus, which is an insight into a national cinematography, Retrospective- a representative selection of a contemporary filmmaker, Retrospective will present a round overview of the work of an Austrian film director Michael Haneke and his provocative approaches to film-making. Also, Haneke's earliest films will be included too. World in Short – competitive section; a selection of short films made by young filmmakers and Kinobalon an independent section for young viewers; a selection of films for children aged 7 to14; in association with Kinodvor Cinema. The film retrospective is dedicated to social changes in the former and current Socialisms, which are compelling to all sections of the 20th Liffe committed to featuring promising filmmakers, European film, rarely screened films, as well as esoteric production from the remotest parts of the world. The festival will also host the Neighboring Co-production Meeting attended by producers and other film professionals from Italy, Austria, Hungary and Croatia.
