Menagerie and a French FilmNational Selection of Serbian Film on Cinema City 2012 on a second day would be Zverinjak (Menagerie) directed by Serbian filmmmaker Marko Novaković: it is a drama that takes place at the beginning of nineties in a Serbian village near the banks of river Drina. It is a testimony to the historical and moral disintegration of a country situated in the middle separated from urban life and located in a region dominated by specific rules and relations between people. Roe, daughter of strain, the most powerful man in the village, promised in marriage to John, son of village forester Tadija. Tadija in turn allows to deal with poaching and illegal felling of village forests. Although the John Does and there is the attraction, they do not want to enter the marriage of their fathers who are trying to impose. Sunday the second day of Cinema City brings a sort of warming up for a rich festival days. Of course second day brings up Jan Cvitkovič’s Arheo, Slovenian film already mentioned (you can read all about it in my review The Men Who Feel on Earth) that won award on Austrian Innsbruck Film Festival just couple days ago. Also Serbian documentary about late Serbian and old Jugoslavian legend actress Sonja Savic, program Up to 10 000 Bucks representing several Serbian films with very low budget and music film program of Nick Powel: the guest of festival: Search and Destroy: Iggy&The Stooges Raw Power by Morgan Neville and Brian Eno-Another Green World by Nicola Roberts. Of course I would say that Cinema City Festival this year presents French film in focus. Sunday and the beginning of festival brought Le SkyLab (The Skylab) by Julie Delpy and another I really like, a venue of Locarno Film Festival L’Art d’aimer or The Art of Love directed by Emmanuel Mourel, film that gathers mainly women in, followed with honest sighs and laughter during the film. The Art of Love (L'Art d'aimer), warm Woody Allen style of criss-crosser examining the Parisian counterparts of urban and educated, all white and heterosexual with various minor hang-ups and neuroses, familiar from decades of Allen movies. Emmanuel Mouret's intermittent vignettes of people that troubles and discusses matters of romantic and sexual issues. Other films on Sunday of Cinema City were, -Serbian film by Gordan Matić, Ginger, More than a Game (Žućko-priča o Radivoju Koraću) -Crossover-Film and Music directed by Serbian and Croatian group of author -The Round up (Szegenylegenyek) Hungarian film by Miklos Jansco from 1966 - Canadian film Slaughter Nick for President by Rob Stewart, Liza Vespi and Marc Vespi -Israeli film Hashoter (Policeman) by Nadav Lapid - Scabbard Samurai (Zaya-zamurai) Japanesse by Hitoshi Matsumoto -Adikos Kosmos (Unfair World) by Fillipos Tsitos -Bulgarian Ave directed by Konstantin Bojanov 18.06.2012 | Radmila Djurica's blog Cat. : actress Author Brian Eno Cinema City Cinema City Cinema City Festival Cinema City Festival Cinema of Serbia Emmanuel Mourel Emmanuel Mouret Entertainment Entertainment Environmental Issue forester Hashoter Hitoshi Matsumoto -Adikos Jan Cvitkovič Julie Delpy Julie Delpy Konstantin Bojanov Liza Vespi Marc Vespi -Israeli Marko Novaković Miklos Jansco Morgan Neville Nick Powel Nicola Roberts Person Career president Rob Stewart Serbian culture Serbian media Sonja Savic Woody Allen FILM
