Yugoslav Black Wave on Kino Otok Isola

Kino Otok Isola brings the most prestigeous filmmakers from the territory of old Yugoslavia, this time two most prominent black wave old Yugoslav film presentors, Serbian Želimir Žilnik and Slovenian Karpo Godina. Godina and Žilnik presented  short film program on 35mm Odpor/Resistence with live discussion on persistance of film revolt by the program of Oberhausn Short Film Festival, the most renowed of its kind in the world: program of political documentaries as a view of the world as a stand and protest on behalf of human rights and freedom.

Želimir Žilnik also presented his latest documentary the hundred year old Dragica Srzentić at the Art kino Odeon cinema Jedna žena jedan vek/One Woman, One Century, as a story of an incredible Istrian woman Dragica Srzentić who witnessed key events in old Yugoslavia due to the Second World  War conflicted set of circumstances. Her life story sheds light on the historical events of the Balkans in the 20th century and explores very complicated political situation of the eight countries and political systems that she lived in and surrvived. It’s composed of conversations, the reconstructions and well animated images and old photographs, to present  a series of key political events in communist Yugoslavia, that shaped the fate of Yugoslavia before, during and after. Dragica Srzentić was personal friends with Josip Broz Tito, the president of old Yugoslavia and for instance the great Federico Fellini.
