Martin Scorsese Masterclass in Cannes

A brilliant edition of the 60th San Sebastian International Film Festival

It is time to give a note to the 60th San Sebastian Festival and this can only be magnificent! A merited A, like the category it holds.  Like Cannes, Venice or Berlin but whereas Cannes has a budget of 20M Euros, San Sebastian has to deal with 7.4M

Not always a film festival combines high quality of films in all sections (official, New directors, Zabaltegi-Perlas, Horizontes Lations, etc…)  with a glamorous red carpet (Gere,Sarandon,Travolta,Hoffman,McGregor,Affleck,Bellucci,Penelope Cruz… ) and an impressive and powerful market including I Europe- Latin America Co-production Forum) and over more the applause of the public that in San Sebastian cinemas is proud to show SOLD OUT in every session.
Yet to mention the jury that reached an agreement handing out the awards to the joy of press and public.
Special mentions:
“Dans la maison”, a French film based on a Spanish book, directed by François Ozon won the Golden Shell as well as the best script.
“Blancanieves”, Spanish candidate to the Oscars also took two awards: Silver Shell to Macarena Garcia and the Jury´s special mention.  Funny detail, last three actresses to win the silver shell got the price at the Goya´s.
Donostia Awards
John Travolta, Ewan McGregor and Tommy Lee Jones received this lifetime achievement award and joined names like Glenn Ford, Bette Davis, Sir Ian Mckellen, Julia Roberts or Glenn Close last year.
Special Donostia Award 60 anniversary
Oliver Stone and Dustin Hoffman were honored with this award. They both presented films in San Sebastian: Savages and Quartet respectively.

José Luis Rebordinos, director of the film festival, and his team can be proud of what they have achieved this year. We say goodbye to a very special edition, the sixtieth. Long live the Festival!
