`The Impossible´ becomes the biggest opening in Spanish box office ever

Juan Antonio Bayona's, The Impossible, broke all-time Spanish box office records for the biggest four-day opening, with 10.3 million euros and 1.4 million tickets sold.

When we attended the European premier of the film at the San Sebastian film festival, we knew that we were watching something big.

The Impossible, is a drama based on a true story of one family’s terrifying account of the 2004 tsunami and the compelling events as they fought to survive in the face of disaster.

The powerful recreation of the 2004 tsunami, in which more than 200 Spanish technicians worked and a group of great interpretations leaded by Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts with special mention to the children, a marevelous Tom Holland, they all have convinced the Spanish audience to go massively to the theaters and for the first time in a long time cinemas showed a SOLD OUT chart.

Directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, Ewan McGregor brings to life the emotional journey of a husband and father vacationing with his family in Thailand when one of the most devastating catastrophes of our time took thousands of lives.

The Impossible also reached the seventh place worldwide. Produced by Telecinco Cinema and Apaches Entertainment is distributed by Warner Bros.

It is now time to wait for the many nominations this film can obtein at the forthcoming Goya Awards in February 2013.
