5th Rajasthan International Film Festival’s poster unveiled

Rajasthan’s Tourism Minister, Mr. Vishvendra Singh, launched the poster of the 5th Rajasthan International Film Festival (RIFF) today at the Ministry’s Secretariat. The festival will take place from the19th to the 23rd of January. On this occasion, Somendra Harsh, founder of the festival, Anshu Harsh, Director of the Festival, and member of the Advisor Committee and Chairman of the Forti Women’s Wing, Ranoo Nathany Srivastava, were also present .

Speaking about RIFF, Somendra Harsh said that it is not just a festival in name but a platform where people from  folk culture as well as from national and international places get a platform to showcase their talent. Talk-shows, movie bazaars, film screenings, awards night etc. are the main attraction centres of fest.

Vishvendra Singh said that such programmes promote tourism in Rajasthan, in which artistes, directors, producers and other film crew, from other states and abroad, take part in this International Film Festival. The fifth edition of the RIFF, which is initiated by RIFF Film Club, will also be supported by the Incredible India campaign of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.

Besides Ranoo Nathany Srivastava, RIFF’s Advisory Board consists of the following eminent personalities:

  • Mr. Anup Jalota, Singer and Composer, Bhajan Samraat, who lives in Mumbai.
  • Mr. Pandit VishwaMohan Bhatt, Creator of the Mohan Veena, Instrumentalist, based in Jaipur.
  • Mr. Premendra Mazumder, Film Critic, Curator and Advisor in Film Festivals, Kolkata.
  • Mr. Ram Kamal Mukherjee, Film Journalist, Biographer and Author, Mumbai.
  • Mr. Shiladitya Bora, Film Producer, Distributor, Mumbai.

Siraj Syed is a film-critic since 1970 and a Former President of the Freelance Film Journalists' Combine of India.

He is the India Correspondent of FilmFestivals.com and a member of FIPRESCI, the international Federation of Film Critics, Munich, Germany

Siraj Syed has contributed over 1,015 articles on cinema, international film festivals, conventions, exhibitions, etc., most recently, at IFFI (Goa), MIFF (Mumbai), MFF/MAMI (Mumbai) and CommunicAsia (Singapore). He often edits film festival daily bulletins.

He is also an actor and a dubbing artiste. Further, he has been teaching media, acting and dubbing at over 30 institutes in India and Singapore, since 1984.
