RIFF, 08, 2022, 04: Komal Nahta chosen for the Outstanding Contribution to The Business of Cinema award

According to an official announcement, Mumbai-based Komal Nahta has been chosen for the Outstanding Contribution to The Business of Cinema award at the 8th Rajasthan International Film Festival (RIFF). Belonging to Jodhpur, Rajasthan, the venue of RIFF, Komal Nahta is a leading film trade analyst. His magazine, Film Information, founded by his father, Ramraj Nahata, is the oldest trade magazine, started in 1973. The magazine now has an online presence (filminformation.com). Komal's sharp analysis of films and film business is considered the gospel truth in film trade circles. Film Information is a guiding light for the trade people who consider it to be the Bible of the film industry, due to its fair, forthright and impartial reportage.

By qualification, Komal is a Chartered Accountant. In fact, he joined his father in the business of publication soon after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant (C.A.). Komal also hosts a number of TV shows such as Bollywood Business on Zee's ETC channel, Starry Nights on Zee Worldwide (including Zee Cafe and Living Foods in India), and Komal Nahta… Aur Ek Kahani on all DTH platforms (Tata Sky, Airtel, Dish TV and Videocon). His comments and views are aired on every channel which covers films in general and Bollywood in particular, and that includes news channels too. Komal also has his own YouTube channel, which goes by the name of Komal Nahta Official.

Anshu Harsh, the Managing Trustee of RIFF Film Club, reminded hopefuls that, " In this 8th edition of the Rajasthan International Film Festival (RIFF) Short, Documentary, Animation, Feature, Regional, Rajasthani films as well as music albums, can be submitted by visiting the website www.riffjaipur.org, and also by film freeway. The next deadline to submit the film is 31st January 2022, which is TODAY.

Siraj Syed is a film-critic since 1970 and a Former President of the Freelance Film Journalists' Combine of India.

He is the India Correspondent of FilmFestivals.com and a member of FIPRESCI, the international Federation of Film Critics, Munich, Germany

Siraj Syed has contributed over 1,015 articles on cinema, international film festivals, conventions, exhibitions, etc., most recently, at IFFI (Goa), MIFF (Mumbai), MFF/MAMI (Mumbai) and CommunicAsia (Singapore). He often edits film festival daily bulletins.

He is also an actor and a dubbing artiste. Further, he has been teaching media, acting and dubbing at over 30 institutes in India and Singapore, since 1984.
