The Bizarre World of Park City At Midnight

Monday, January 8----The Sundance Film Festival will keep alive the bizarre spirit of the “midnight movie” with its series PARK CITY AT MIDNIGHT. The program contains eight films that are likely to shock the bleary-eyed viewer and offer a lively last stop in the nightly film-going circuit. This year’s midnight madness continues a tradition that saw the breakout of such recent landmark films as THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, SAW, OLD BOY, and AMERICAN HARDCORE. Cultists, you have found your Sundance home….

The films, seven World Premieres and the US Premiere of a Canadian title, screening in PARK CITY AT MIDNIGHT include:

FIDO
Director: Andrew Currie; Screenwriters: Robert Chomiak, Andrew Currie
A zombie movie with a twist….Andrew Currie’s horror film-cum-satire is the story of Timmy Robinson, a young man who's best friend in the world is a six-foot tall rotting zombie named Fido. But when Fido eats the next-door neighbor, Mom and Dad hit the roof, and Timmy has to go to the ends of the earth to keep Fido in the family.

FINISHING THE GAME

Director: Justin Lin, Screenwriters: Josh Diamond, Justin Lin
In this comical fantasy of the action film genre, studio executives search for a replacement for action star Bruce Lee, whose sudden death left legions of stunned fans and a legacy of his unfinished final film GAME OF DEATH. In this mockumentary, five aspiring actors attempt to fill the superstar’s sandals.

IT IS FINE! EVERYTHING IS FINE
Director: Crispin Hellion Glover, David Brothers; Screenwriters: Crispin Hellion Glover, Steven C. Stewart
It doesn’t get more bizarre than the obsessions of actor-cum-director Crispin Glover, who stars here as a man with severe cerebral palsy, who still is a hit with the ladies. This fantastical pschosexual story brings viewers into his inner life and outer obsessions.

THE SIGNAL
Directors and Screenwriters: David Bruckner, Jacob Gentry, Dan Bush
Told in three parts from three unique perspectives created by three visionary directors, THE SIGNAL is a horrific journey towards the discovery that the most brutal violent monster might actually be within all of us.

SK8 LIFE
Director: S. Wyeth Clarkson; Screenwriters: S. Wyeth Clarkson, Elan Mastai
Canadian director Clarkson’s tale of 8 sk8trs brought together to make a 'sk8 tape', who band together to save the legendary "Crashpad.”, which is the only place where they can find people who share their need for speed.

smiley face
Director: Gregg Araki; Screenwriter: Dylan Haggerty
Bad boy director Araki returns to Sundance with the strange story of Jane F, an unsuccessful slacker actress, who inadvertently eats her roommate's pot cupcakes and proceeds to have a very strange day of hijinks and surreal misadventures.

THE TEN
Director: David Wain; Screenwriters: Ken Marino, David Wain
The perils of modern life are explored via extreme comedy in ten stories, each inspired by one of The Ten Commandments. Not your father’s religious epic….

WE ARE THE STRANGE
Director and Screenwriter: M dot Strange
In this highly stylizing animation epic, two outcasts fight for survival in a sinister fantasy world after they're caught in the middle of a deadly battle between bizarre monsters on their way to the ice cream shop. Walt Disney is officially turning over in his grave…
