Of the 101 feature films so far announced as part of the 2023 Sundance Film Festival program, more than half are directed or co-directed by women.
That’s a fairly striking number for an industry in which women leaders have historically been underrepresented — the World Economic Forum reported in March that only 17 percent of directors and writers in the top films of 2021 were women.
