URANIUM FILM FESTIVAL COMES TO LOS ANGELES IN 2016

The International Uranium Film Festival team is excited to be coming to Los Angeles in March 2016 with a selection of powerful documentaries and movies about nuclear accidents. From Three Mile Island to Chernobyl and Fukushima: The in the world unique atomic age film festival will mark in 2016 the 5th anniversary of the ongoing Fukushima nuclear disaster, the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster as well as the 38th anniversary of the Three Mile Island nuclear reactor accident. From March 24th to 28th the festival will take place in two iconic Hollywood venues: The Egyptian Theatre and the Sunset Gower Studios.

Highlights

The festival opens at the Egyptian Theatre with "The Man Who Save the World", an exceptional documentary with Kevin Costner. The closing night will be held at the Sunset Gower Studios with "The China Syndrome" and star guest Jane Fonda.

One year before the Fukushima reactor exploded, the International Uranium Film Festival was founded in 2010 in Santa Teresa, the famous artist district in the heart of Rio de Janeiro. The first Uranium Film Festival then was held in May 2011.  Since 2012 the main venue is the Cinematheque of Rio de Janeiro's Modern Art Museum (MAM Rio). The annual Uranium Film Festival - that is dedicated to all films about nuclear power and the risks of radioactivity, from uranium mining to nuclear waste - is a global project. It has already been in dozens of cities in Brazil, Germany, India, Portugal, Canada and USA: São Paulo, Salvador, Berlin, Munich, Lisbon, New Delhi, Mumbai, Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Washington DC, and New York.
