Martin Scorsese Masterclass in Cannes

'A Trip' ('Izlet', 2011) will contend for Oscars 2013.

The Slovenian film ‘A Trip’ (‘Izlet’, 2011) by writer/director Nejc Gazvoda will represent Slovenia at the 2013 Oscars. Out of all international films contending for the ‘Foreign Film’ category, only one will win for 'Best Foreign Film'. The 85th Academy Awards will take place Feb. 24, 2013.

'A Trip' has received nominations and awards at international film festivals the world over. It won ‘Best Screenplay’ by Nejc Gazvoda, ‘Best Acting’ for Jure Henigman and Nina Rakovec, ‘Best Editing’, ‘Best Music’ and ‘Best Film’ at the Slovene Film Festival 2011, ‘Special Jury Award’ at Cleveland International Film Festival 2012 and the ‘Best of Fest’ award at Nashville 2012.

'Izlet' Summary: “Ziva, Andrej and Gregor are best friends since high school. Gregor is a soldier who is about to embark on a mission to Afghanistan and Ziva is going to study abroad. Andrej is their gay friend who hates everything, himself included. They decide to go to a road trip to the seaside like they did when they were in high school. When they arrive, they get drunk and Ziva and Gregor kiss each other, what brings tension to their relationship, while Andrej doesn't know anything and just makes fun of everything, mostly of Gregor and his army ideals. The conflict erupts when Ziva, in a fit of rage, destroys their tent and tells a secret that enrages Andrej. Only then the true problem is revealed - Ziva is not going to study abroad, she was lying because she didn't want to pity her.”
