The main Indian features seen this year at Florence, "The Gangs of Wasseypur" and "Chittagong", are Bollywood productions in the sense that both are made in Hindi (rather than one of India's other 21 official languages) with professional Bombay performers and staff, but the content, style, and conception of these films seems t...
When you say Spanish film you think Almodóvar, Alejandro Amenábar, Vicente Aranda, Bigas Luna, Álex de la Iglesia, Ricardo Franco etc… But very least know the phenomenon of expanded Spanish national cinema without actually mentioning the Spanish filmmakers who immigrated to US. A decade of world cinema imposing as the perfect blend of artistic and cleverly composed populist film, because culture of one country need to differ itself in cinematography, with of course e...

Can anyone harness enough courage to raise such a question? It is as if to ask about chances of survival of a live organism that is ridded of its heart. Or both lungs. This live (and very much so!) organism stands for cinema, whereas it is the film festivals that constitute the heart and the lungs. Although "the death of the cinema" has long b...

Silver Case a film which shines
By Ron Gilbert
After finally seeing this film on the big screen, at the LA Film & TV Festival at the magnificent Chaplin theater in front of an enthusiastic audience and I was blown away by the production values.
This film is a great example for any filmmaker who wants the crash into the Hollywood film scene using their own vision and not governed by corporate film studio executives.

The Concept - Additional Information
The Acid Theatre is a unique concept evolving from a meeting between a director and a music artist. The video and the song are created simultaneously by an extraordinary joint venture of two professionals, both specialized in their game. Challenged by their ability to adapt to one another the project was put to a whole new level of creativity.
Another unique thing about this unique production is that it’s been fully financed by the artists. This gave them total creative freedom to apply the newest techniques in cinema production, like the custom developed E.D.I.© effect.
Dubtek
DuBTeK , a mix of “Dubstep” and “Tekno”, is a new futuristic and up-beat dance music. DuBTeK is on the rise to be the next big thing and “The Acid Theatre” shall be the messenger to deliver this prophecy to the devoted followers of dance music.
EDI
“Extreme Detail Image” is the new ultra high definition experience which will give your film the fullest and richest detail possible. The Acid Theatre© is the first film project in which E.D.I has been fully enabled.
This week the spotlight is on Marcel Carné, an innovative filmmaker who led the poetic realism movement and was arguably considered the most admired French filmmaker of his era.
He produced his great works just before the mid-twentieth century, some of which include; “Quai de Brumes” (1938); “Les Portes de la Nuit” (1946); and “Le Jour se lève” (1939).
In 1936 Carné directed his first full length feature film “Jenny” and it was with the production of this fil...

VERY FUNNY THINGS. NEW AMERICAN COMEDY is the title of the thematic retrospective to be dedicated by this year's San Sebastian Festival to new trends in American comedy movies. Comedy, a genre that already had an extremely long-standing Hollywood tradition, has seen a revival in recent decades thanks to a contemporary angle with place for irreverence, non-political correctness and social satire. A new generation of directors, screenwriters, actors and comedians have become today's...

Can the means used to resolve the conflict in South Africa be applied to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict? As someone who experienced both conflicts firsthand, Robi Damelin wonders about this. Born in South Africa during the apartheid era, she later lost her son, who was serving with the Israeli Army reserve in the Occupied Territories. At first she attempted to initiate a dialogue with the Palestinian who killed her child. When her overtures were rejected, she embarked on a journey back to South Africa to learn more about the country’s Truth and Reconciliation Committee in overcoming years of enmity. Robi’s thought-provoking journey leads from a place of deep personal pain to a belief that a better future is possible.

Day 4 and it had two distinct themes - the Palestinian/Israeli issue and Africa in all its glory.
Things sometime happen to me that seem too coincidental. I was traveling by Peoplemover to see two films about Palestine and then suddenly noticed the Durban Holocaust Centre. I've been trying to find it for years and then it just pops up. Maybe it was a sign...

Novelist Anne Rice'S 2005 book Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt (Publisher: Alfred A. Knopf, a division of Random House, Inc)which imagines Jesus at the ages of 7-8 is being made into a film slated for release sometime in 2013.
Rice originally had a movie deal with Good News Holdings, but that fell apart in 2009, and the project was shelved indefinitely. But after watching The Stoning of Soraya M, Rice felt like she'd found the right person to bring her story to the silver screen: Am...
