IFFI 2018, VIII: Ratings

IFFI 2018, VIII: Ratings At the 49th IFFI, Goa, November 20-28, 2018, I caught 29 films: 28 features and one short. Not bad, considering one can watch up to 40 films in theory. If some press conferences, one Master Class and some dinners have to be squeezed in, not to mention the Open Forum that I moderated and the lunch that followed, 29 is not a low figure at all. Sadly, I had to walk out of as many as eight of them, after giving each one of them 20-30 minutes to warm-up. My highest rating...

Of My Orientalistic Arthouse Films at the Technique of Ethnic Medieval Miniatures (Drawn by Me, as well)

user
This film "There In My Distant Land" was primarily demonstrated to the audience back in 2013 on Malta and gathered a hospitable international audience of viewers. It served an allegoric foreword to a series of my following Orientalistic films. Respected viewers and genre worshippers! You may have heard of that now I practice predominantly Oriental themes, from the Knighthood of the Middle Sea and from the Arabian Tribes of Maghreb (bedoines, for instances, an...

This fall has already brought a set of remakes. Seems like their producers either ran out of ideas or want to resurrect the beloved stories for the reason...

Ever wondered which are the best movies about gambling

user
Finding a good movie about gambling that doesn't have those washed-up, vanilla scenes where casino first-timers shower in champagne, have two girls on each arm, throw the winning chips or are bathed in jackpot coins. That is why if you're a real casino-themed movie fan, you will definitely enjoy these non-cliché movies. So, pop some corn, find a comfy position on the sofa and be prepared to watch some state-of-the-art casino movies.   Casino – Martin Scorsese A real...

Is Kristian Nairn the next big brand ambassador?

Some brands will forever be synonymous with their ambassador, the celebrity that has fronted their advertising campaigns. If you need any proof of that head to Gary Lineker’s Twitter page and count how many references to crisps you see in his replies. Choosing the right brand ambassador can make or break the success of an advertising campaign. A thorough vetting procedure needs to be carried out by the brand before signing up a celebrity as one scandal could end up dragging their reputa...
