MISSION & OBJECTIVE
As part of the Lake Pepin Art & Design Center the Flyway Film Festival’s mission is to support the work of emerging film artists, as well as working professionals. As such we’ve attempted to keep the submission process as simple as possible hoping to give more filmmakers access to have their work screened in front of an engaged competition jury and a responsive audience.

The global financial Crisis, Recession, Depression -- call it what you will - was not overly in evidence at the 59th edition of the Berlin Film Festival which ended its annual ten day run here on Febtuary 14th, Valentine's day. Private VIP and celebrity parties as reported in the gossip tabloids seemed to be as lavish as ever, and public box-office attendance in terms of tickets sold, was the highest ever at 270,000, up a solid 20,000 from 2008. The one festival section that did seem to be aff...

Ten days have gone by like a flash and I'm sitting here in the press room on Saturday afternoon, Valentine's Day, mulling over the dull flicks I slept through, the one or two that kept me awake, and the handful that I really wanted to see but never got around to. ("John Rabe", Sean Penn's "Milk", a Persian film called "Barbareye Elly", the latest Wajda, and a few others). Of the half dozen competition films I did get to, not one was a real winner, and most were so...
It is back to Las Vegas for me, at the present time. I am busting my backside to get this film underway. I have a part for Wayne Newton , as a crew member from my past! I do not want him to sing any of his hits. I really want him to act, in a way I personally believe, he can! I will continually update Fest21 members and guests on the movie's progress. I am still waiting for Premier Sports to get back to us on Laila Ali. It has only been one week, and I know she has a new baby. I hope she and h...
It was "Michelle Ma Belle" on the Berlin front pages this morning announcing the arrival on day six of still fairly pretty, 49 year old Hollywood star, Michelle Pfeiffer, here to rep her competition film "Chéri" in which she plays an aging coutrtesan (French euphemism for "high class hooker") in hopeless love with a much younger debauché -- French for "degenerate profligate", of masculin gender. The classy period piece set in "Belle Epoche" France (the period from the turn of the century to W...
We here, at fest21.com, loved Taken Liam Neeson latest film which was produced by Luc Besson.
What a surprise to find out that Liam could beat Bond at ass kicking. The film goes out on DVD and Blue Ray.
We had a chance to discuss with Liam about the film.
This is an intense film – can you talk about the difficulties of the shoot?
First, I love the physicality in films. It’s always great to get the chance to flex your muscles. I’ve done quite a few action films, sword mov...

The producers panel aptly named “Movers and Shakers,” included Charles Roven-Dark Knight, Christian Colson-Slumdog Millionaire, Dan Jinks-Milk, Jim Morris-Wall-E, Neda Armian-Rachel Getting Married were asked questions by Los Angeles Times writer Pat Goldstein that pried open Pandora’s industry box and let fly what it takes to bring a film from concept to fruition. Last night’s red carpet event could have been something written in a movie. Our Modern Master had a local driver drop him off at the award ceremony. With fans filling the streets and ticket holders wrapped around the block, red carpet access was limited to say the least. So limited in fact, that when I arrived there was nary a sliver of space to even sneak through, which made Mr. Eastwood’s entrance all the more incredible. As the festival powers-that-be, press and fans waited ...

This was one of those perfect mornings where I whiled away the hours just watching films. Starting with the Bestor Cram documentary Johnny Cash At Folsom Prison, I found this to be a real throw back to a time in Cash’s life that’s not really been explored. In depth interviews with family members, band members and former Folsom Prison inmates, offer insight to Johnny’s writing process and expose it and his songs with more intimacy than we’ve seen before on film. Next up, was ...
