The US` first and longest-running festival dedicated to screening media works by filmmakers of Asian descent or about Asians and Asian Americans.

Abertoir is the national horror festival of Wales.  Based in the seaside town of Aberystwyth, the festival is a five day event that showcases a wide variety of horror-related events.  The five days comprise of studio and independent feature films, classics, cult films and even a silent film with live accompaniment.  There is a short films competition with a £1000 prize, with entries submitted from around the world.  In addition to films, Abertoir features masterclasses, talks, live theatre and music, making the festival a varied and enjoyable event that brings together all aspects of horror.

Abertoir also is responsible for the success of independent filmmakers, as films selected in the lineup (eg Colin and Umbrage) have subsequently acquired sales agents from their Abertoir screenings.

Abertoir is funded by the Film Agency for Wales and promises an affordable and exciting festival that attracts famous guests from aroud the world.

The Abu Dhabi Film Festival (formerly the Middle East International Film Festival) was established in 2007, with the aim of helping to create a vibrant film culture throughout the region. At the same time, a strong focus on the bold new voices of Arab cinema connects with Abu Dhabi’s role as a burgeoning cultural capital in the region and marks the Festival as a place for the world to discover and gauge the pulse of recent Arab filmmaking.
