A key music world calendar event, Indie Week is embracing sight and sound with a companion program – the Reel Indie Film Festival.

The second edition of the festival takes place October 14th – 19th, 2014 in Toronto, a filmmaker’s mecca and media launchpad for some of the industry’s brightest young talent. This year the festival grows to include 2 more features, shorts and music videos.

RiFF seeks to cover the gamut of musical inspiration, from the teenage dream of following in the footsteps of the Rolling Stones, to using music as a platform for one’s thoughts and beliefs. Films that make us think, that move us, and that capture the essence of a band or song.

The West Virginia Mountaineer Short Film Festival; celebrating artistry, imagination, and independent thought in video and multimedia. Screening works under 20 minutes, programming categories include: documentary, narrative, animation/experimental, student films, and works that focus on Appalachian culture and themes. This year, in addition to screening narrative, documentary, animation and experimental works, we have established a thematic category for works that explore issues relating to energy.

Within the word “purgatory”, it is easy to envision condemned souls, torment and darkness. However, purgatory may also reflect the cyclic state in which we often rediscover or recreate ourselves anew from within our personal inflictions. Sometimes it is the necessary stage to exorcise ourselves from the haunting ghosts of the past. Perhaps it is the serene place of self reflection and realization. From within this, the producers of the DAMNED exhibition of fine dark art present a new exhibition of cinema and theatre called Purgatory. Held near halfway to DAMNED and Devil’s Night on May 20-22 2010 in Detroit, Purgatory will present approximately 30 short films of deeply introspective, beautifully disturbing and darkly enlightening subject matters from filmmakers worldwide. This is not an industry-focused horror film festival, but a tributary showcase of the often redemptive films from the filmmaker’s personal damnations complimented with live experimental performance art on stage during intermissions.
