Polish Film Festival

FRANTIC FILMS a competition for work inspired by ROMAN POLANSKI

FRANTIC FILMS is a challenge to filmmakers across the UK to create their own short, max-length 10mins, inspired by the films of iconic Polish director, Roman Polanski.

Respond to some of the most influential cinema of our time, and you could have your work seen by leading film professionals who have worked closely with Polanski himself - shortlist judges include:

Timothy Burrill (producer The Pianist, Oliver Twist)

Jerzy Skolimowski (scriptwriter Knife in the Water)

Pawel Edelman (DOP The Pianist, Carnage).

 

Entrants are competing for one of two great prizes:

  1. Best Film Award winner will receive £1000 worth of film equipment.
  2.  
  3. The Audience Award winner will receive a film making course at the London Film Academy (shortlisted entries will be available for viewing and audience voting throughout the KINOTEKA film festival the festival website: kinoteka.org.uk).

Competition Brief:

Whether spoof or homage, miniature masterpiece or the result of an hour playing with your i-phone, Frantic Films is an open creative challenge, welcoming all interpretations. What counts is not your previous film-making experience, but the following three criteria - on which all submissions will be judged:

- The independent character of the film submitted.

- The quality of its response to Polanski’s cinema.

- Its use of the short film form.

Kinoteka Polish Film Festival Opens in London

  Fans of Polish cinema are in for a fortnight of fun, as the 10th Kinoteka Polish Film Festival opens on March 8th and runs through the 22nd at various venues in London, with some additional screenings taking place in Edinburgh and Belfast.
