Whether
it is a dramatic or comedic piece, we want screenwriters and filmmakers
to share their great stories in regards to the world of sports. We felt
that creating this festival would give the many sports fanatics out
there an outlet for their love of competition. We ask you, the
filmmaker, to only submit films that the plot centers around the
competition or competitor. We will respectfully decline films that just
have a competition scene in them that isn't pivotal to the story or
character.
Some
people have asked us to define "sports." Well, we want to include any
subject matter that deals with mental and physical competition for the
sake of winning a prize (and not killing anyone along the way to do it).
So we're ready to watch and read any stories from auto racing to
badminton and spelling bees to chess.
The festival this year will be held at the El Portal Theater in North Hollywood, California on November 9-11, 2012. We plan to have a reception on either Friday or the Thursday prior to the festival's opening.
Our jury and judges are well respected people in
the film and sporting industry. Having your film or screenplay in the
festival may open doors that may not be available to you. We can't
promise sudden fame and fortune but we'll do our best to get you
noticed.
This is the 4th year of the festival.
The Festival encourages both traditional and alternative storytelling and accepts films in a variety of categories including narrative, documentary, animated and experimental films and also features a section showcasing broadcast projects and packages. Winning films are selected by a jury comprised of renowned entertainment and sports industry figures, including Arnold Schwarzenegger. This season’s top films will be awarded significant prize packages and receive exposure during and after the Arnold Sports Festival. What’s more, the Grand Prize winner will be invited to spend the day on a movie set with Arnold Schwarzenegger and will meet with studio executives.

Indiewood Pictures in Association with Destiny Pictures presents the award-winning MY RUN, the inspirational documentary of Terry Hitchcock, narrated by Academy Award winner Billy Bob Thornton. After tragically losing his wife to breast cancer and struggling to raise three young children on his own, Terry Hitchcock seized on an idea. He wanted to accomplish the impossible: run 75 consecutive marathons in 75 consecutive days to bring attention to the incredibly difficult lives of single-parent families. He ran in spite of freezing rain and unbearable heat, in spite of chest pains and bone fractures that wracked his 57-year-old body. He just kept running - each day, every day - strengthening an unbreakable bond between father and son--- not stopping until he broke the finish line tape in Atlanta.

Director: Robert Siegal.
Paul (Patton Oswalt), a 35-year-old parking garage attendant from Staten Island, is the self-described "world's biggest New York Giants fan." He spends his off hours calling in to local sports radio station 760 The Zone, where he rants in support of his beloved team, often against his mysterious on-air rival, Eagles fan Philadelphia Phil (Michael Rapaport). His family berates him for doing nothing with his life, but they don't understand the depth of his love of the Giants. One night, Paul and his best friend Sal (Kevin Corrigan) spot a Giants star linebacker (Jonathan Hamm) and decide to approach him—but things do not go as planned. The fallout of this chance encounter brings Paul's world crashing down around him as his family, the team, the media and the authorities engage in a tug of war over Paul, testing his allegiances and calling into question everything he believes in. Following up his first filmed screenplay (The Wrestler), writer/director Robert Siegel once again demonstrates a unique and potent vision of the human experience, in all of it its harsh truths and hopeful humanity.
